Nor Cal Men’s Retreat

The Bible records that David was a man after God’s own heart. What a great thing to be said about anybody. David was a man of great faithfulness – and this is what is best known and often celebrated. He was a courageous shepherd, a tender worshipper, a fierce soldier, and a decisive leader of men. He could out-sing, out-fight, out-lead the best of them. Yet when you become more than passingly familiar with the life of David, there is a darkness that can be seen.  David led a messy life. He was an unfaithful husband, a treacherous king, and a passive father. He was lustful, scheming, and indifferent.

I praise God that along with all the glory and accomplishments that we see in our Bible heroes, the Bible shows us their warts and pimples, too.  Though David had a heart of gold, he had feet of clay – just like you and me. We are blessed to have Pastor David Guzik with us this weekend to walk us through the life of David and encourage us to walk with God through all the seasons and challenges of life.
